Teal lines traverse the canvas. Multiple currents are layered over the same space. Yet each current remains unaware of the others. They do not collide. They simply pass through the same place. Where other works fill the surface densely, this one moves through it lightly. Air remains between where the brush has touched and where it has not. That negative space is not empty — it is where these currents have crossed without knowing one another. When we believe we are seeing something, we do not recognize that it is already overlaid with countless others. The act of seeing is no different. Our gaze is already superimposed upon innumerable prior gazes, yet we take it to be a pure and original seeing. Energy leaves a trace. But a trace does not account for the energy.
